National Energy & Fuels Institute (NEFI) has submitted a formal letter of support to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee for a comprehensive package of consumer energy choice legislation expected to be marked up following the resolution of the current federal government shutdown.

The package includes four priority bills that would fundamentally strengthen protections for consumer access to heating fuels, appliances, and equipment: Energy Choice Act (H.R.3699); Don't Mess with My Home Appliances Act (H.R.4626); Homeowner Energy Freedom Act (H.R.4758); and Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act (H.R.4690). As of Monday, October 20, the Energy Choice Act had 105 cosponsors.

Taken together, these bills would create comprehensive federal protections against policies that limit consumer access to heating fuels and related equipment through direct bans, backdoor restrictions, discriminatory subsidies, or federal mandates. These issues and other federal policies that impact your business will be reviewed at the members-only NEFI Federal Policy Update Webinar on Tuesday, November 4. (More information below!)
